Iran military hierarchy incorporates all the officially authorized government military ranks in the Iran military. Iran military also follows the same pattern as of USA military but with slight variations.

The chronological order is being used means a pattern that starts from the top most rank and moving ahead towards the lowest rank in the Iran military hierarchy.
Commissioned Officer Rank level
This is the superior most military rank attainable in the Iran military hierarchy. These officials have full controlling power over the Iran military. The first two ranks (Commander in Chief & Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) are basically political leaders and rulers of the administration that are provided with these highest military ranks as an honor. The original practical Iran military ranks start from the third rank of the hierarchy which is General. The seven ranks falling in the category of this uppermost level of hierarchy are as follows:

Junior Commissioned Officer Rank Group
The middle level of the Iran military hierarchy is Junior Commissioned Officer rank group which incorporates military professionals who lead a particular regiment or group of soldiers. This middle level in Iran military gets divided into nine sub levels which are described below in sequential order. In some countries the rank Colonel has been added to top most military level but In Iran military hierarchy this has been added as a Junior Commissioned officer rank. The nine ranks falling in the category of this uppermost level of hierarchy are as follows:

Enlisted Officer Rank Group
This is the lowest most authority holder level of the Iran military hierarchy. This rank is also referred to as Non – Commissioned officer rank in the Iran military. This is the entry level of Iran military and every military professional usually starts his military career from this level. This level further got sub divided into seven parts which have been described below. The ranks falling in the category of this uppermost level of hierarchy are as follows:
